The Alliance of Albanians, one of the two parties which backed presidential candidate Blerim Reka, announced that it will not have a voting preference for the second round and will invite its supporters to vote on their own volition.

Reka won 80.000 votes in the first round, and given the razor thin margin between Gordana Siljanovska – Davkova and Stevo Pendarovski, his voting bloc could easily sway the elections – or make them illegitimate through a call for boycott. AA leader Ziadin Sela said that he will leave it until Thursday to make a final decision, but his deputy today announced that there will be no call to the supporters.

Our President Ziadin Sela was very specific and said that he will leave it to the free will of the voters to decide based on their own conviction. This is how it is done in democratic societies, said AA deputy leader Bujare Abazi.

Both Siljanovska and Pendarovski urged Reka’s supporters to make them their second choice after Reka ranked third and did not advance into the second round of elections.
