Slagjana Taseva from the Transparency International groups sharply criticized the decision by OJO state prosecutors to use up their summer breaks at a time when they should be investigating the major corruption scandal, not to mention their decision to allow Special Prosecutor Katica Janeva, who is one of the chief suspects, to go on vacation abroad herself.

The most basic thing to do would be to question the suspects, so they can give a preliminary explanation of what happened. Seen from all sides, this is a most unusual approach to the criminal investigation and could even be considered obstruction, Taseva said as OJO organized crimes prosecutor Vilma Ruskoska has been dragging her feet for nearly a month after the initial arrests, and eventually headed for the beach without even investigating Katica Janeva – who is the main suspect in a major corruption and abuse of office case.

Janeva also graced the pages of the news sites woth her pictures from a beach in Greece all last week, before eventually returning to Macedonia. Meanwhile she attempted to conceal one of her phones from the investigators and attempted to have the computers in her SPO office formatted. All of this raised concerns that the Zaev regime is trying to cover up the case, as the trail leads to the very top of the ruling SDSM party.
