A new version of the Law on the Special Public Prosecutor’s Office was drafted, in which a number of VMRO-DPMNE suggestions were accepted in certain segments and already sent to the representative of the main opposition party, Prime Minister Zoran Zaev said Monday at the workshop “Guarantee for the Youth” organized by the Agency of Youth and Sports.

He expects it to be reviewed by the opposition on Monday, and negotiations at the level of working groups to begin as of Tuesday.

After these suggestions we have accepted on the basis of their amendments, a significant step forward has been made. It was actually requested by the European Delegation and the Venice Commission, and the red lines for these things were respected. Not because the Venetian Commission and Europe demanded that from us, but because of our legal system and the principles we all stand for, Zaev said.

Regarding the opposition’s request to exclude the “bombs” as evidence, the prime minister said it was accepted.

The “bombs” or the so-called materials of illegal wiretapping will not be used as evidence in the future work of the Public Prosecutor’s Office in the Republic of North Macedonia. It is clearly stated in Article 105, paragraph 4, that the “bombs” will no longer be part of the evidence procedure, and of course the material evidence exists, it is alive, said Zaev.

He explained that the “bombs” that are already in court proceedings in the 18 cases of the SPO will continue to be used, while for the cases after 30 June 2017 they will not be used as evidence in the proceedings.
