According to claims made by the National Security Agency, many employees who have never had a security clearance due to real security barriers but now, in a very short period of time, in an illegal procedure were given a positive assessment and taken by the Security Agency.

UBK employees who have not been taken in the selection process due to identified security risk, have not been notified so far, although according to the Law on NSA selection lasts until 20.08.2019, and the Agency starts operating on 01.09.2019, thus denying the right to appeal and re-examining the procedure, NSA sources say.

On the other hand, according to the information, employees were also hired after the legal deadline of September 10, contrary to the Law on the Agency establishment.

Convicts and suspects – National Security in the hands of UBK compromised staff

The biggest omission at the beginning of the NSA’s work is precisely the way staffing is selected. Despite the fact that there is a Selection Committee, according to our sources, groundless evaluation and security checks have been carried out illegally, which enables subjective selection, which gives the selector the discretion right to eliminate unsuitable, that is, to hire suitable staff, regardless if they have criminal records or hold fake diplomas or under disciplinary proceedings.

The whole selection process is organized and managed by several party officials, controlled by Oliver Spasovski and Jovce Remenski, who under suspicious circumstances and through illegal checks eliminated or protected several persons, including people with criminal record, involved in activities under the jurisdiction of the UBK, persons with disciplinary offenses at the MoI, fake diplomas.

Strict criteria, but only on paper

The criteria for employment at the NSA are strict. If a UBK employee is found to be a security risk and has not passed the security check, they will be dismissed from the MoI.

According to the criteria, a job profile is made first, then the person’s profile for that job and finally the person who will be in the final selection of that process has to meet all the criteria according to NATO security standards.

Anyone who fails the security check will be fired.

According to NSA sources, the assessment was carried out without established quality criteria, but also by relative and party key. Many candidates have been recruited after the deadline expired on September 20, 2019. Although the people selected have already signed plea bargaining decisions at the NSA, no one has passed the integrity test, which is one of the basic requirements under the NSA law.

Jovce Remenski has been taken over from UBK despite party engagements, but also speculation of involvement in the “Racket” case, which has not been investigated. Remenski was also mentioned in the past that he used to take tapes obtained by special investigative measures and sold them for blackmail.

VMRO-DPMNE accused Remenski of being the creator of fake official notes that were used for political persecution and sending political opponents to prison on no grounds.

Thus, the whistleblowers Zvonko Kostovski and Gjorgji Lazarevski, convicted in the “Coup” case, who were handing over materials to a political party, were taken during the selection. Persons who have been or have been in contact with foreign intelligence services involved in violent protests have been taken at the Agency as well.
