The Administrative Court struck down a decision from Education Minister Arbr Ademi to seize the authority the city of Gostivar has in educational issues from Mayor Arben Taravari. Ademi and Taravari are locked in a feud over education in Gostivar, as the two come from competing ethnic Albanian parties, the ruling DUI and the opposition Alliance of Albanians.

The court found that the Education Ministry did not submit all necessary information, and some of its was ineligible, so it couldn’t take over the powers that include appointing top people in Gostivar schools. Taravari called on Ademi to return all powers to him and to “stop his two years long harassment of the pupils in Gostivar”.

This is the second time since late 2017 that the Ministry took over the education system in Gostivar and was ordered to give it back to the city by the court.
