Skopje mayoral candidate Danela Arsovska issued her final appeal of the electoral campaign, before the ban on political reporting begins tomorrow. Arsovska said that the outgoing Mayor Petre Silegov focused on demonizing her when he should have been working to improve the lives of the citizens.

If he worked as hard on improving the city as he was on vilifying me, this city would’ve been a nice place to live. Let him continue thinking that he can achieve something with lies and fraud. The people see through him. We go on massive turnout, to put an end to the dirty political games. Sleep well my fellow citizens of Skopje and see you on Sunday, when we celebrate the start of our the new, modern and beautiful period for Skopje, Arsovska said.

Silegov, Zoran Zaev and their SDSM party launched an exceptionally dirty campaign, even by Macedonian standards, to portray Arsovska as a “Bulgarian agent”. This attack dominated the final few days of the campaign and was apparently designed to turn off voters on both sides. Stakes are high in the race, as Zoran Zaev announced that he will resign as Prime Minister if Arsovska beats Silegov.
