Skopje mayoral candidate Danela Arsovska promised that, under her administration, a new “green council” will be formed that will include experts on the environment and representatives from NGO groups. This council will examine issues of pollution, infrastructure proposals and development, from a green point of view

We see that, with the start of the heating season, pollution is spiking up again. This question calls for a serious and systemic approach. That is why, in the first 82 days of my mandate, we will clean up all illegal dump sites where hazardous waste is burnt. We will procure 250 environmentally friendly buses, and we will reduce traffic congestions with free public transit. Each year we will plant 100,000 new trees to expand the green spaces and we will ban cutting of trees. We will protect Mt. Vodno and extend the gondola to reduce car traffic there, Arsovska said.
