Deputy Prime Minister for European Affairs Bujar Osmani in the role of National Coordinator for Foreign Aid had a meeting with the newly appointed Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, Zhang Zuo. Letters of cooperation between the governments were exchanged at the meeting, and two grants agreements for implementation of projects in the health and social care sectors were signed, as well as scientific and research activity in the amount of nearly four million euros.

Osmani expressed gratitude to Ambassador Zuo for his personal commitment to maintaining continuity in excellent co-operation between the two countries.

He clarified that the projects to be implemented in the forthcoming period would benefit both countries and peoples, and promote interconnection in the Balkans, with the aim of achieving common development across the regions.

The health and social care support agreement is funded by a grant worth 30 million yuan, exceeding three million and 800,000 euros, to purchase over one hundred vehicles for the needs of the healthcare sector, including equipment, for the needs of urgent medical care, as well as improvement of services for home visits in healthcare, said Osmani.

A second agreement worth 620,000 yuan, or about 80,000 euros, was also signed today for a donation to equip the Institute of Molecular Biology.
