EU Ambassador to Macedonia David Geer said at a press conference that what needs to be done now is to adopt the negotiating framework for the country and find a date for an intergovernmental conference between the country and the European Union. Of course, it is in our and your interest for this date to be scheduled as soon as possible, said Geer.

In March last year, all 27 EU member states decided that Macedonia is ready to start accession negotiations with the European Union. That decision was made then, and what needs to be done now is to adopt a negotiating framework for your country and find a date for an intergovernmental conference between your country and the European Union as soon as possible, Geer said.

According to him, all this takes time, but the most important thing, as he said, is that the perspective for the European integration process of the country is not in question.

The most important thing is for your country to continue on the path of reforms and to do it as soon as possible because it is not only in the interest of the EU, but it is in the interest of the citizens of Macedonia. And of course it is extremely important to continue the dialogue with Bulgaria, which will be in the spirit of the Good Neighborhood Agreement. At this moment, the question is not whether Macedonia will start negotiations with the EU, but the question now is only when, Geer underlined.
