A family waited for hours for the ambulance to come to their aid. For hours, the daughter watched her father, a diabetic and with a heart condition, struggling to breathe and panicking because he could not take a breath. One of them was his last.

A man who worked, gave his contribution to the state and paid health insurance all his life, in the moments when he should have received the deserved care, he was left alone.

This is just one example of what Macedonian healthcare looks like and functions under Minister Venko Filipce. So far, a total of 1,136 people have lost the battle with Covid-19. The active 15,589 cases, on the other hand, are praying that they will not find themselves in the next grim report.

Social networks are flooded with call for help to people who do not trust Filipce’s healthcare and seek help from private clinics. The only culprit that allowed the price of that treatment to be as it is is the government.

And if the sweet talk of the minister had healing properties, instead of being a leader according to number of deaths, the country would have had other epithets.

Just as a reminder, together with his boss Zaev, Filipce first promised free hospital treatment for all citizens as of January 1, 2019. At the same time, the famous 100 thousand denars salary for doctors were promised.

Until this moment, nothing has been done.

These promises were followed by the promises of “free healthcare after joining the EU”, just to collect political points and votes before the failed referendum to change the name.

We do not even have a date for the start of negotiations, let alone…

Let’s not forget the promises for new hospitals, better conditions for patients, better salaries for residents, nurses, technicians…

The construction of the most important clinical center for the eastern part of the country is falling apart in Stip, while the one is Skopje has not even started yet.
