La Verita editor Laris Gaiser, the man who published some of the key evidence in the Katica Janeva scandal, told Alfa TV that Macedonia is being ruled by a mafia organization led by Zoran Zaev. Zaev doesn’t have the basic understanding of how to manage a country, and he rules Macedonia guided by his personal interests, Gaiser said in the interview.

It’s a community of people without knowledge of what a state is and why they are there. Once that you have somebody in power who does not understand what a state is and is trying to exhaust the state for his personal reasons, interest, that is criminal, that is really a criminal move. Zaev has elementary knowledge how to manage private interests. The problem of this Government is that your state is not functioning because the state is threatened by his power, and the power is making only its own interests, Gaiser said.

Gaiser painted a picture of international networks which were involved in the rise to power of a person like Zaev, and said that currently these networks are not as dedicated in their continued support of Zaev.

On your question about the networks that supported Zaev and put Zaev in power, are they still willing to maintain him in power? Yes and no. From a real point of view, Zaev is a problem. He’s a problem for everybody and everybody knows that. The fact that you did not receive the next date for entering the negotiations with the European Union is a clear message that nobody wanted to give a possibility to Zaev to remain in power, say another six months. In another six months we will receive the opening of accession talks. These networks have a problem, they put him in power, gave him absolute endless power because he was a good puppet to carry on reforms or ideas for the destruction of a nation as an idea coming from the outside. Unfortunately he was good in doing that. People are abandoning Zaev because everybody knows he is that and it is absolutely impossible to support such a person but on the other side the network that put him on is still there and they have interest to save their soldier, Gaiser said.

Gaiser told Alfa that Zaev is being abandoned even internationally because nobody expected the extent to which he will corrupt the country. His removal, the journalist says, could serve the purpose of covering up all the scandals and violations of the rule of law that were used to uplift him. He reveals that La Verita has additional information about Zaev’s crimes and corruption and relies on the fact that all its claims up to now were proven true and authentic.

We have good feedback on what we are doing in Macedonia, it is much more than enough so we can continue and follow the story on the field, Gaiser says.

He assures the public that La Verita supports Macedonia’s EU and NATO integration, despite its critical position on the current EU Commission, and insists that uncovering and dealing with the crimes of Zoran Zaev will help the country achieve these goals better than covering them up and allowing them to fester.

Who is guilty here, the one who is reporting, the messenger, or the one who is running a mafia system? Come on, Gaiser says.
