A worldwide poll conducted by Gallup reveals that, in case of war, 38 percent of Macedonians would be willing to fight for their country. The results rank Macedonia similarly to other Balkan countries, and above the Western European rates, where the British, French and Czechs responded in the positive in the mid 20-ies range. Germans are among the least militant nations, with only 18 percent of the people declaring they would fight for their country.

Greeks and Serbs, on the other hand, answered in the positive with 54 and 46 percent. Turks answered yes with high 73 percent.

Of the European countries, Finland and Georgia were the most prepared to fight, with 74 and 76 percent of the people answering in the affirmative and Muslim countries such as Morocco, Pakistan, Azerbaijan and Bangladesh ranged between 85 and 94 percent.
