Afrim Gashi’s Alternative party will deliberate over the weekend over whether to now join the Zaev coalition. The offer was made to them after the BESA party left the coalition, which leaves Zaev without the necessary votes to pass any legislation.

Alternative was together with the opposition parties in the attempted vote of no confidence in Zaev that took place yesterday, which failed after a representative from the BESA party was apparently kidnapped. After the vote failed to take place, Gashi said that he is open to switch sides and possibly join Zaev, if the offer is right. BESA vacated the Agriculture Ministry and it’s likely that Zave will also offer Gashi to take over the Culture Ministry as well, just so he can endure for a while longer.

We will consult with the international representatives and we will make our decision, Gashi said.

He indicated that if international representatives tell him that there is a possibility that Zaev can sign some kind of a new treaty with Bulgaria that will open Macedonia’s EU accession talks, then he would join the coalition.
