The former Macedonian ambassador to Bulgaria, Marjan Gjorcev, explained Monday on TV Telma what he meant when he said that reciprocity is needed regarding minorities.

I refer to the Declaration of Human Rights. According to its Constitution, Bulgaria does not recognize national minorities, but recognizes citizens who choose to declare their ethnicity. There were 1,609 Macedonians on the 2011 census. Macedonia should take care of those 1,609 people. There we have a newspaper in Macedonian language Narodna Volja. It has existed for 30 years, we have organizations. Reciprocity should be set that way. It should be bilateral. Their constitution does not allow minorities to be included the constitution, but we should ask for the Strasbourg verdicts to be implemented, for the organizations to be registered, Gjorcev said.
