The Zaev Government issued a denial to the Infomax news site report (carried by Republika and other news outlets) that Zaev has agreed to accept an annex to the treaty he signed with Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov in 2017. According to the report, Macedonia will accept a more binding form of a treaty that will impose Bulgaria’s reading of history on Macedonia, will blur the distinction between the two nations and will require that Macedonia fines even private individuals who express criticism of Bulgaria.
The Government categorically denies that it has accepted all demands from the other side in the Macedonian – Bulgarian relations, and the report that “soon an annex to the treaty will be signed” is complete fabrication, the Government said in its statement.
