After the interview in which Vice Zaev, Zoran Zaev’s brother, discussed his businesses and denied owning marijuana plants, journalists decided to look into the Prime Ministers property report. His brother insisted that the plants are not his property, but the property of the broader Zaev family, as are their construction and canning businesses.

And meanwhile Zoran Zaev, known for his expensive motorcycles and the lavish lifestyle of his children, continues to declare that he’s worth mere 70,000 EUR, and even that is in the form of a loan he gave in 2012.

All the other property Zaev listed, a house and two apartments in Strumica, land, other loans and deposits, it is all listed ether to his parents, children or wife. Zaev hasn’t even listed the expensive BMW motorcycle he is often cruising across the country with, not to mention the rapidly expanding businesses his brother and cousins are growing under the patronage of the powerful family head. Zaev is currently busy pushing for the legalization of marijuana, with the persistence that clearly indicates that he stands to personally gain a fortune out of it. But officially, his direct links to the businesses remain obscured, even though only thinly.
