The Hungarian Government announced the deployment of 45 police officers on the border between Macedonia with Serbia and Macedonia with Greece.

Their goal, in the continuing mission, will be to stop illegal migrants and detain smugglers. Hungary helped Macedonia close its border with Greece in 2016, at the peak of the migrant crisis, when up to 10.000 people would cross the border each day and head toward the European Union countries further north.

A total of 30 Hungarian officers will be deployed on the southern border and 15 on the northern border. They will be equipped with night vision goggles, all-terrain vehicles and other equipment.
