President Stevo Pendarovski said that, if the Zaev Government is toppled tomorrow and a clear new majority emerges in Parliament, he will give the mandate to a nominated new Prime Minister in ten days, as provided in the Constitution. Pendarovski said that he may convene the leaders of the political parties for a meeting in the case the situation is deadlocked, and both sides have 60 votes each, which is a possibility.

As elsewhere in the Continent, we are in a deep energy crisis. Our domestic capacities are old and insufficient, and citizens ask me why don’t I convene a meeting of the party leaders. But what can I tell them? We are a parliamentary democracy, I can’t give them lessons. If, God forbid, we enter a period of prolonged crisis and, say, both sides have 60 representatives each, then I will call them and ask them to find a solution. And if there is a majority, my deadlines are clear – I have 10 days to give the mandate, Pendarovski said.
