Macedonia is a country of a few and their rich, spoiled, arrogant and unscrupulous children. All the others are cannon fodder. One dies at a crossroads, for a parking space, for a drink, for a look at someone else’s girlfriend. And it does not matter what one dies for nothing when the state is not behind the value of our lives anyway. The state protects the killers. The Skopje asphalt, the ditches, the rivers, became the graves of the dead without a day. Dozens, and possibly hundreds, of unsolved murders, people that have died from “natural death.” It has become natural in Macedonia to die violently.

This is not a journalistic statement. This is the conclusion of a frightened man, reduced to an unprotected man. Neither a policeman nor a doctor, nor a judge. A man left in the wind, to be beaten by the will and trouble of those few families that control the state.

The recent death of handball player Denis Tot has shocked the public. A young man died on the asphalt in front of the “Privilege” night club. He was only 27 years old. This death is not only a family tragedy, it is also a social one. There is a lot of speculation about what happened on the tragic night in front of the night club, and the tragedy is it they come from officials, authorities, the director of KARIL Maja Mojsova and the Ministry of Interior.

Although the media initially reported that Butel’s handball player had been badly beaten up, the director of KARIL claimed that there the now deceased did not have visible signs of injuries. The Ministry of Interior confirmed that, under pressure from the handball player’s family and the Croatian diplomacy, it turned out that it was not the media that spread untruths, but the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Interior. Who and why there was an attempt to cover up the murder of the young handball player? How many murders of Macedonian citizens ended as an accident, as a natural death? How many hearts failed, and how many lives were actually violently ended?

April 7

The Butel handball player is fighting for his life in the Skopje clinics and is in serious condition after he was brought to the hospital early in the morning with severe injuries, reported “24 Rakomet” late in the evening.

RK Butel confirmed that the injuries were inflicted by a fight or by being hit with hard objects, and the handball player was fighting for his life.

There was no confirmation of the case and detailed information from the Ministry of Interior.

The same evening, Vecernji List wrote that the handball player was the Croatian Denis Tot.

April 8

Contrary to the information of the Butel club and the Croatian media that the handball player Denis Tot was beaten in the Skopje “Privilege” night club, the director of the clinic Maja Mojsova said he was brought to KARIL with no visible signs of injuries, but was in critical condition.

The handball player is in critical condition. We are fighting for his life. But what is strange is that he has no signs of having suffered violence. His heart had already stopped when he was brought to our clinic. We are doing everything we can at the moment to save his life, Dr. Mojsova told “Fokus”.

The Ministry of Interior confirmed the statement of Mojsova that the Croatian handball player Daniel Tot was not victim of violence, but was brought to KARIL unconscious.

According to “Vecernji List”, the Croatian handball player was beaten in the “Privilege” night club, and the videos from the surveillance cameras were deleted.

A person employed in the night club called an ambulance, after which the deceased was taken to the Skopje Emergency Clinic.

The brother of the deceased trusts the institutions and urged the media to stop spreading fake news that Denis was beaten. My brother died of a heart attack, he said.

The Ministry of Interior informed that the handball player had been previously attacked by three people outside a nightclub in the Skopje central park and that he had been hit on the head, after which he fell unconscious..

Following the report of the Ministry of Interior about the attack on the handball player Denis Tot, the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office requested detention for three suspects, including a girl, who are suspected of killing the Croatian handball player who played for the Butel club.

April 9

The Public Prosecutor’s Office said that it was acting upon the notification received from the Ministry of Interior. The prosecution has issued an autopsy order, securing the videos from the “Safe City” surveillance cameras and the nightclub, and questioned several people who witnessed the incident and may provide information needed for the investigation.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office said that after the autopsy of the deceased, according to the initial findings, although there were no visible injuries, the death was violent and occurred as a result of brain injuries caused by the hits.

The prosecution states that the event took place on April 7, in the early morning hours, outside a night club in Skopje, when the suspects, after a short verbal argument, attacked the now deceased Croatian national and punched and kicked him several times.

The Ministry of Health said that an extraordinary inspection will be conducted into the procedure for admittance and treatment of the young handball player. The handball player died at the Skopje clinics.

In two days, countless of pieces of information, lies and attempts to buy time. Covering up traces, deleting videos from surveillance cameras… The Tot family’s tragedy is our collective tragedy. Tragedy of a desolate Macedonia, of corrupt institutions, of worthless lives.

And while “someone knows exactly what he is doing”, as “Vecernji” comments, our lives hang on by the same thin threads on which Denis Tot laid down his life on the Skopje asphalt.
