In his Easter remarks, given while attending service in Ohrid, Macedonian President Gjorge Ivanov urged unity in facing the coming challenges.

I want to see the citizens of the Republic of Macedonia together in the coming year, and overcoming the challenges. Let’s think about what we leave for the future generations, President Ivanov said.

President Ivanov leaves office in mid May, after ten years as President, and the inconclusive first electoral round between his would-be successors is adding to the political tensions in Macedonia, with the prospect of early general elections being raised.
