The head of the DUI electoral headquarters in support of Stevo Pendarovski as presidential candidate Izet Mexhiti says the government coalition partner cannot be accused of boycotting the election process.

The former mayor of Cair in three terms says that DUI made the difference between Pendarovski and Gordana Siljanovska Davkova, who lost very narrowly in the first round as a candidate of the opposition, convincing the public that the same will be achieved in the run-off.

DUI supported Pendarovski, and the votes of DUI are decisive for Pendarovski’s victory in the first round. It is now very clear that the Alliance for Albanians and Reka came out with a candidate in this election only to help Siljanovska and VMRO-DPMNE on the stage, said Mexhiti.

According to Mexhiti, whether DUI lost legitimacy among Albanians cannot be said in the presidential election, because, according to him, they are not relevant for measuring such a thing. He adds that in the local elections in Debar, where DUI, although narrowly won in the first round, proved that the political option enjoys legitimacy among the Albanians.
