Judge Vladimir Tufegcic called on a financial investigation into the work of the now fully disgraced Special Prosecutor’s Office. Tufegcic says that his comment is prompted by the new fiscal accountability tool used by the Finance Ministry, which showed that detained Special Prosecutor Katica Janeva awarded a “confidentiality bonus” to herself of 157.000 EUR, and her deputies collected slightly smaller figures.

In the previously published reviews of the SPO we could not see the payment of this bonus. The least I expect is to see an immediate investigation into the spending of the money on the part of the SPO conducted by the OJO service of state prosecutors. The investigation needs to be conducted with the same urgency used when the Judicial Council was investigated over allegations of unlawful payments, Tufegcic said in an interview.

The judge was a supporter of the SDSM led Colored Revolution, which helped create the SPO and give in unchecked power. His daughter, Ivana Tufegcic, was a Colored Revolution activist and was elected member of Parliament on the SDSM party list. Previously, the judge was accused by the very SDSM party of working with the right, as he was instrumental in the tax evasion and fraud case brought against pro-SDSM media mogul Velija Ramkovski.

Janeva’s arrest on corruption and abuse of office charges prompted an all out war between various factions of judges and prosecutors and even an intervention from outgoing Prime Minister Zoran Zaev who had to urge his most loyal officials to continue to work constructively with each other.
