The Kosovan Foreign Ministry condemned the arrest of a former fighter of the Kosovo Liberation Army (UCK/KLA) Tomor Morina in Macedonia.

Morina was arrested based on a Serbian warrant. Kosovan authorities accuse Macedonia of participating in a Serbian persecution of an UCK fighter.

We condemn the arrest of the former UCK fighter Tomor Morina by the “North” Macedonia police, based on an Interpol arrest warrant sponsored by the Serbian state. This is another example of the abuse Serbia perpetrates in the Interpol system. We will raise this issue with the European Union and we will demand urgent measures to stop this from happening again. If these abuses persist, we will take counter-measures on our part. We are in touch with the authorities in Skopje and we believe that the case will be resolved as soon as possible, and we are grateful to all the authorities in “North” Macedonia, especially the Albanian leadership, the Kosovan Foreign Ministry said in a social media statement.

Serbian authorities suspect Morina of war crimes against civilians perpetrated during the Kosovo War.
