Macedonia is at the bottom of Europe also according to another parameter – the severe material deprivation rate.

It is a Eurostat survey, which measures the material deprivation rate through several parameters. Specifically, the number of people who cannot afford at least 3 basic items such as paying bills, buying meat or fish, a new phone, washing machine or car and traveling for a week. Macedonia has the worst rate in Europe (31.1%).

Given that this statistic is for 2019, before the pandemic, imagine how much darker this map will look this year.

We shine the darkest, says Bogdan Ilievski.
