Macedonian police detained two migrant traffickers from Bogdanci, close to the border with Greece, as they were transporting 27 illegal migrants.

Seventeen of the men are from Pakistan and 10 from Afghanistan. They were driven by a Citroen van which was stopped by the police near Strumica.

Meanwhile, the Greek Government ordered that additional 466 migrants from the cramped camps at the islands of Chios and Lesvos will be transported to the mainland and then to a camp close to the border with Macedonia. The Greek Government is desperate to reduce the pressure at the island camps, as arrivals from Turkey have increased in the past weeks, but moving the migrants to camps on the border with Macedonia has the effect of encouraging others staying in Turkey to make the trip to the islands, as it signals that the Balkan route is open again.
