Skopje Mayor Petre Silegov is in hot water after publishing the personal information of several taxi drivers who were fined for waiting for customers outside of the regulated area.

Silegov once had himself filmed as he was chasing the taxis waiting in the streets around the busy Skopje City Mall. Now, he had the traffic police fine several of them with 500 EUR each, and Silegov couldn’t wait to post the fines on his Facebook account.

We fined the misbehaving taxi drivers 500 EUR. You have to respect the taxi station at the City Mall. Order will be had!!, Silegov wrote as he shared the fines.

But, he failed to obscure the names and the personal details of the drivers. Publishing such data is punishable by law, as it can lead to abuse and identity theft. The law provides that prison time for public officials who violate this provision.
