I believe in principles and values and will strongly stand for them, VMRO-DPMNE President Hristijan Mickoski said in his address 28th annual conference of VMRO-DPMNE’s Youth Forces Union (UMS) promising young people that the time is coming when they will see a different image of the politicians from the one we are used to seeing in the past 28 years.

We must not disappoint the people, nor regard public posts as an inherited right. Posts before being a privilege are a responsibility. Responsibility to the people and to Macedonia. My greatest endeavor will be to have absolute justice and every injustice that is proven, every abuse that is made to be severely punished, no matter where it comes from and how close they are to me. Surely you are wondering why I pay so much attention to sending messages to our membership, future MPs and those who will have responsibility in the VMRO-DPMNE government? Now I warn, I point out what they must not do, because when they assume posts, you need to know that I will act then, and I do not want anyone to say, you did not say, you did not warn. Then it will be late, any deviation from the principles and moral code will be sanctioned. You know, the people gain nothing when politicians say “sorry”. Usually then the damage is done and one can’t go back. We must act before the mistake is made, Mickoski said.

Mickoski referred to the principles, which, he said, were not just words on paper or empty phrases, but a moral code that must be known and applied by anyone who has the responsibility to serve the people.

First, there will be no staying in office for long, because any such occurrence, no matter how successful it is, causes routines, and a sense of self-sufficiency, and arrogance that leads to detachment from the people. And so the quality decreases, and the maximum to be reduced to a minimum. We do not need officials who will be protected as white bears. Posts does not make people, but people make posts, and that is to serve the people.

Second, if there is an official who wants to do both office and business, let him forget about it. That can’t be. This people must have people in positions that should respond to the demands of the citizens, not to their own interests.

Third, the quality of people and their abilities must come to the surface. And if there is someone outside our coalition and party who is willing to invest with his knowledge and quality of a particular position he would be welcome to do so. Because such a choice of quality staff brings benefits to the people, the state and even the party, because the citizens reward the party for the people who work honestly and responsibly.

Fourth, the administration must get rid of the restraints it now operates. Revenge must not be a repetitive image of 28 years, but it must be replaced by the functioning of the rule of law. Those who broken the laws and failed the people should be held accountable. Only those who do evil and commit crime should be afraid.

Fifth, we must have a government accessible to the people. If I can travel thousands of kilometers across our country in a month and make contact with the people, then everyone who has a responsible position in the new government will have to do so. We must also listen to the demands of the chambers, the unions, associations. Through such consultations we will gather ideas, thoughts, and will correct. We will set up a coordinating body headed by a minister who will organize this work.

Sixth, we will pay special attention and respect to religious communities and religious groups in accordance with our ideological commitment. But we will also respect marginalized groups and alliances by offering a society without prejudice and stereotypes.

Seventh, a strong economy, growth and development. Education that is quality and modern. A chance for young people and a special strategy to combat migration. We will offer solutions as part of a plan to counter the exodus with migration. Let’s keep the people who will build the future here. To provide justice without exception. Healthcare with standards and quality. Agriculture that offers opportunities for farmers, a culture respecting tradition and modernism, and without the influence of politics. These are the basics that we will follow in the future program. And we will strive to achieve as much as possible, and if there is no fulfillment of what is promised, then the punishment of the people will come.

Eighth, future officials will have to give up luxury. There will be no costs for unproductive things, and for personal convenience.

Ninth, we have clear strategic partnerships with the EU, US and NATO. We will work for the EU, we will work for standards, and principles, to acknowledge our weaknesses to move forward. And we will leave the low passions in politics aside. These partnerships are based on mutual respect and support, values and mutual interest, not unnecessary and unworthy courtesy.

Tenth, we will not seek support based on trading with votes but supportbased on a program and goals.
This is a moral code composed of principles and values, followed by a program. And changes for the better will be felt in the first 100 days of the new government’s mandate, Mickoski said in his address.
