VMRO-DPMNE President Hristijan Mickoski warns that the five billion EUR investment package announced by Prime Minister Zoran Zaev will turn out to be the largest theft in Macedonia’s recent history. Mickoski has already warned that Zaev is deliberately slow-rolling infrastructure investments in order to have more cash at hand in early 2020, when the election campaign should be in full swing.

Zoran Zaev is about to announce investments worth five billion EUR without offering an plan or strategy. The same Zoran Zaev who promised 500 kilometers of new highways, an average salary of 500 EUR and 5 percent annual GDP growth. Who promised he will fight corruption and now mires the country deeper into it. The same person who promised not to change the name and the identity of Macedonia, and who said he will bring the youth back to the country. The same one who spoke about fighting nepotism and won’t give you half a chance unless you are related to Mira Diesel or Katica Janeva. The smiling Zoran Zaev who, a year ago, told us that Macedonia opens its EU accession talks in June 2019. His latest announcement is his biggest lie yet, Mickoski said.

Little is known about the infrastructure Zaev is expected to announce, other than the idea for a new clinic west of Skopje, whose price tag was greatly inflated over the past two years and is now expected to reach half a billion EUR. Mickoski pointed out to the fact that the price is no longer considered a main criteria in the contract offered for the clinic.

The greatest theft in the recent history of Macedonia is being prepared. These half a billion EUR will be loaned and will have to be paid back by all citizens of the Republic of Macedonia, dragging our country deeper into debt, Mickoski said.
