Following the scandalous interview given by organized crime prosecutor Vilma Ruskoska, opposition leader Hristijan Mickoski says that it is clear that she is the new darling of the Government. Ruskoska kept denying involvement on the part of the Government in the major racketeering scandal she is investigating, and also confirmed that she is uneasy to prosecute all the ancillary crimes involved with the case.

The Government used to have one red line – to preserve Katica Janeva in her position. After we saw Janeva holding a Louis Vuitton bag in one hand while counting the extorted millions with the other, they somehow gave up on Janeva. Now their new red line is to install Vilma Ruskoska as the next chief prosecutor, Mickoski said during his interview with the Albanian language Zhurnal news site.

Mickoski is negotiating with Prime Minister Zoran Zaev on amending the law on state prosecutors, but no progress has been made as Zaev pushes for Ruskoska to replace Janeva. Mickoski described this situation as evidence of the total collapse of the rule of law.

During the interview he announced that VMRO-DPMNE will cut taxes after it assumes power, which Mickoski hopes will happen after the April 2020 elections. He also announced that he will reduce the size of government and will also reduce executive privileges.
Asked by Zhurnal whether VMRO-DPMNE will have ethnic Albanians on their lists for members of Parliament, Mickoski said that this can happen if the party forms a pre-electoral coalition with some of the parties representing ethnic Albanians.
