Katica Janeva and her team will have to pay back a million euros they received in illegally paid bonuses, says VMRO-DPMNE official Antonio Milososki.

Milososki, who was one of the targets of Janeva’s politically driven campaign which is now coming to an end with multiplying allegations of racketeering and abuse of office against her, put together the money she and her top deputies received. Janeva – 150.000 EUR, Lile Stefanova – 87.000 EUR, Fatime Fetai – 81.000 EUR and so on. State prosecutors raided Janeva’s former SPO office earlier this week and seized documents related to the payments made to the staff, their investigators and a number of politically connected people who were also hired. In her greed, Janeva ran afoul of the law stating that public employees can receive bonuses only up to 30 percent of their salaries.

The amount of financial abuse uncovered in the SPO is now approaching the amounts of alleged corruption that SPO was investigating in some of its most high profile cases.

Prosecutor Fatime Fetai, who was portrayed as one of the three public faces and stars of the SPO while the institution was riding high and enjoyed major international support, defended the bonuses. She compared them to the payment of equally over-sized travel expenses to members of Parliament, ignoring the fact that she personally filed charges against a member of Parliament on this count, declaring it a crime and abuse of office.
