VMRO-DPMNE member of Parliament Antonio Milososki, who represents the party during talks with the ruling SDSM party on the competing proposed laws about the state prosecutors, said that Vilma Ruskoska is unacceptable as the next Special Prosecutor due to her political bias.

Ruskoska is not acceptable because, while a prosecutor, she acts as a defense attorney for some of the defendants in the racketeering case, Milososki said, speaking about Ruskoska’s reluctance to charge anybody of importance in the major Boki 13 scandal. He added that “the Government is prepared to talk, but not about anything that would lead to them losing their political control over the prosecutors”.

The meeting between the two parties held today was declared as failed by both sides. Prosecutors cited the holiday season as a reason why they are not getting more done to uncover all those involved in the racketeering scandal which forced Special Prosecutor Katica Janeva to resign. Previously, Ruskoska and Janeva joined forces to prosecute VMRO-DPMNE members of Parliament, forcing a group of them to vote in favor of the name change of the country.

SDSM and VMRO proposed draft laws on state prosecutors. The SDSM version would appoint Ruskoska, who like Janeva is a staunch SDSM loyalist, as the new Special Prosecutor, leading Janeva’s handpicked staff. Both points are unacceptable for VMRO, which demands that both Janeva and her staff are investigated for their involvement in the extortion of millions of euros from businessmen they were prosecuting.
