State prosecutors from Kumanovo are appealing on the exculpatory verdict for 79-year old Ljubomir Mitev, who shot dead one of the intruders who attacked him and his wife in their village home.
Mitev, who became known across Macedonia as Granpa Ljube, was found not guilty earlier this month, as the court ruled his actions constituted self-defense. Mitev killed one of the intruders with his father’s rifle, after he and his wife endured hours of torture and abuse.
But prosecutors insist that they are obliged to press the charge further, before the Appeals Court.
