Deputy Prime Minister Nikola Dimitrov equated the vote of no confidence which the opposition VMRO-DPMNE party announced against him to a threat aimed at the stability of the country. VMRO leader Hristijan Mickoski said that this vote will be the first step in bringing down the Zaev regime, as even some of Zaev’s advisers have suggested that Dimitrov is sacrificed after the failure of the Government’s EU policy.

I’m threatened with a vote of no confidence at a time when the state is faced with serious challenges and I’m personally the target of attacks from various centers that act against Macedonian interests. This shows that they (the opposition) line up shoulder to shoulder with these centers, Dimitrov said.

VMRO-DPMNE advised Dimitrov and Zaev for years that the policy of making major concessions to neighboring countries will never satisfy them and will just lead to more demands and open new issues, which is currently happening with Bulgaria. Dimitrov was called out by Bulgaria for his actions, and Sofia officials say that he would be all “hugs and kisses” with them, but would then badmouth them in Brussels and Berlin.

Former Foreign Minister and VMRO official Antonio Milososki responded to Dimitrov’s lament.

The minister has been manipulating the citizens of “our country” since 2018, telling them he has resolved all issues with our neighbors and secured an unconditional date to open EU accession talks. What he brought us is several vetoes and many humiliations. He’s been avoiding the Parliament for half a year, but now he says a vote of no confidence is an attack on him? What a crybaby! Going on an ego trip equating the country with himself. The vote of no confidence is not a threat – it is a democratic form of checks and balances by the Parliament on the executive, Milososki said.
