Ahead of the New Year and Christmas holidays, the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Macedonian Orthodox Church – Ohrid Archbishopric has called on the faithful to wear masks in the temples, maintain distance, and said that the Epiphany holiday should be held in the temples.

In the spirit of the recommendations received by the Ministry of Health to the religious communities, the Holy Synod of Bishops recommends that the upcoming holidays be celebrated with responsibility for public health, that the epidemiological health measures be respected, so that the Christmas and Epiphany holidays are celebrated without violating the legal norms for public gatherings determined by the Government.

By observing these measures, as a Church we will contribute to preserving the general health of our people, in these difficult times when the whole world is facing the challenge of fighting the dangerous virus, the Holy Synod said.
