The ruling coalition failed in its attempt to extend the state of crisis for six months. Not enough members of Parliament were present to vote on this proposal, or on the plan to hold a census in early 2021.

The coalition has only 62 seats in the Parliament, which means that the opposition parties can to a large extent block legislation they disagree with, as at any given moment several members of Parliament from the coalition are in isolation. The state of crisis was used to deploy soldiers to help manage crowds at hospitals, and to pressure the private clinics to help the public healthcare sector which has serious difficulties coping with the epidemic.
