Deputy Prime Minister for European Affairs Bujar Osmani met Wednesday with the Minister without Portfolio in charge of Diaspora, Edmond Ademi, discussing the possibility for the diaspora to join the country’s negotiating process with the EU.

In the process of negotiations ahead, we have an obligation to use all the potentials that are at our disposal, and the diaspora is a huge potential in this regard, Osmani stressed, adding that the diaspora is an inseparable part of the Republic of North Macedonia, and that in that direction, it is our obligation to ensure greater inclusiveness of these potentials in the upcoming negotiations, setting the basis for deeper and more substantial involvement of the Diaspora also in other processes in the country.

During the meeting, the two interlocutors exchanged views on the use of the experience of the project implemented by the Government of the Republic of Ireland to include the Irish Diaspora in the country’s policies.

Ireland is a world champion according to the successful involvement of the diaspora in its rapid development, and it will be a real benefit if we succeed in bringing Irish experiences and knowledge to North Macedonia, Osmani added.

The interlocutors jointly agreed to deepen co-operation in this sphere, providing the potential for a more quality process of talks with the EU.
