I expect parties to put aside their interests when it comes to the interests of the citizens of the state and to change the model into one constituency and to bring a legal obligation of 50/50, said outgoing Prime Minister Zoran Zaev, pointing out that democracy in the country gains the most and removes the possibility of future autocracies being installed.

I absolutely want, he underlined, if possible everyone to support it, but in parliamentary democracy it is known if 61 votes are “for” it is a law.

The DUI coalition partner disagrees, but I think, said outgoing Prime Minister Zaev, that they need to do a little more careful calculation and see that they have to agree.

SDSM and the Coalition, he underlined, are in favor of one constituency and we maintain our position and urge VMRO-DPMNE and DUI to join such initiatives and models.

According to Zaev, this is an important democratic step, where SDSM loses the most, then VMRO-DPMNE and DUI, but that it also gains, after which everyone else gains, and in the end democracy gains the most and eliminates the possibility of future installation of autocracies in the state.

There are many benefits, but the greatest is democratization. It gives the opportunity for the smaller parties to participate in Parliament. In the end, you have a multiethnic country and it gives a more serious opportunity for more serious representation of smaller and  communities, said outgoing PM Zaev.
