President Stevo Pendarovski appointment of Erol Musliu as director of the Intelligence Agency is considered a strong “slap in the face” for DUI, the newspaper Lajm reports, citing party sources. According to the newspaper in Albanian language, Musliu was mentioned in 2011 as a potential candidate for director, when Gjorge Ivanov was president, but DUI strongly reacted to that, deeming him as an inadequate candidate. But now Ivanov is no longer a president and obviously, DUI’s influence in the presidency is much weaker.

The newspaper Lajm reported that they tried to contact them, but DUI has not given any statement to Musli’s appointment as director of the Intelligence Agency yet.

The 2011 DUI reaction against Erol Musliu:

Senior sources at the DUI today told Alsat-M that they will strongly to oppose the eventual intent of the President to appoint Erol Musliu as the director of the Intelligence Agency. According to Ahmeti’s party, this post should be held by a person with credibility, not a person like Erol Musliu. The incumbent director of the Intelligence Agency has another two and a half years in office and has no procedure for his dismissal and appointment to another person. If the Director of the Agency may change, it cannot be said that the director of this institution should be Erol Musliu. Someone with credibility should be appointed to that post, not someone who participated in falsifying files or producing forged documents
