Following his inauguration on Sunday, Stevo Pendarovski met with the foreign dignitaries who arrived to Skopje for the event.

During his first meeting with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, Pendarovski received an invitation to come to Belgrade in Autumn.

Both presidents expresed their intention to develop ties between the two countries in areas of mutual interest, said President Vucic’s office.

Pendarovski recently dismissed a proposal which Vucic was pushing for a territory swap between Serbia and Kosovo as the “worst idea he has ever heard”. Macedonia fears that such a resolution to the Kosovo issue would lead to calls to redraw Macedonia’s borders as well.

Bulgarian President Rumen Radev also invited Pendarovski to visit him in Sofia.

We give categorical and strong support for the European perspective of “North Macedonia”. We need to help it meet the requirements to join the European Union, Radev said.
