Faced with a shortage of medical professionals, many of whom are packing up for the EU countries, the Healthcare Ministry pushed a proposal through Parliament that will allow retired doctors and nurses to get back to work as advisers and consultants.

Managers in public healthcare institutions will also be allowed to practice and take extra shifts.

The new regulations also allow public healthcare institutions to exchange doctors and nurses which, the Ministry hopes, will help more patients get treatment in their home towns instead of forcing them to travel to the capital, which is now the norm.
