The Democratic Alliance (DS) party led by Pavle Trajanov, which is part of the ruling SDSM led coalition, strongly denounced the outcome of the census that was announced today despite the significant boycott the process faced.

It’s believed that the boycott reduced the share of ethnic Macedonians, from 63 in the 2002 census down to 54 or 58 percent – in the overall count and among actual residents respectively.

Our estimate is that only about 10 percent of the Macedonians in the diaspora were counted, while in Macedonia, from the resident population, over 130,000 people who are overwhelmingly ethnic Macedonians were not counted. This means that the census is a failure and there should be accountability, Trajanov’s party said.
