VMRO-DPMNE presidential candidate Gordana Siljanovska – Davkova says that the commission set up with Greece to rewrite Macedonian history and school books is politically, not scientifically driven.

Instead of forming a commission under the Macedonian Academy or the university, theirs is led by politics. Nobody objects to removing insulting qualifications from the books, but history is a process, it is built gradually, and they have no right to decide on the Macedonian history in a closed circle. This is outside of the realm of logic, Siljanovska said during her meeting with supporters in the Skopje district of Aerodrom.

The Prespa treaty, and the friendship treaty with Bulgaria created commissions under which these two countries can rewrite Macedonian history books and condition Macedonia’s further progress toward the EU with acceptance of the “new version” of history.
