Much of Macedonia, especially the higher elevation areas, are covered with snow, and many roads remain difficult to navigate. MEPSO and EVN Macedonia were able to restore power to the south-west of the country, where a number of cities, like Ohrid, Debar, Struga and Resen were left without electricity yesterday.

Trucks are banned from using the roads between Tetovo and Popova Sapka and Mavrovo – Zirovnica, while the road between Skopje and Makedonski Brod remains blocked due to a landslide. Landslides are also a problem on the roads between Delcevo and Kocani, Delcevo – Pehcevo and Delcevo – the Blagoevgrad border crossing with Bulgaria.

The ski resort of Popova Sapka was coldest this morning, with temperatures dropping to 5 below zero, and has nearly 90 centimeters of snow. Mavrovo is under nearly 50 centimeters of snow, and of the cities, Krusevo has 19.

Temperatures are expected to drop significantly tomorrow, and to remain low during the week.
