The strike in schools and kindergartens resumes for the fifth day, because there is still no agreement on higher salaries for employees. Yesterday, the Ministry of Education and Science urged classes to continue, and hold talks in parallel, to which SONK replied that without an acceptable proposal and an offered percentage for raising salaries, they could not end the strike.

Minister of Education and Science Jeton Shaqiri said that he respects the right to strike, as constitutionally and legally guaranteed, but that the union leadership should give priority to social dialogue and while it lasts, regular classes should continue, recalling what has been lost in the past two years due to the pandemic.

The director of SONK Nedelkov said the union expects a real and concrete offer that the membership will consider, and without a proposal, the strike cannot end. From the Government and the competent ministries, the Union requested a serious approach and willingness to offer an appropriate percentage of salary increase for employees in schools, kindergartens and dormitories.
