Some of the protected witnesses who were relied upon by the Special Prosecutor’s Office have begun to pull back, Infomax reports. According to the news site, the witnesses were asking for additional guarantees, after the institution was effectively dismantled and its case given to the OJO/PPO office.

The witnesses fear that with the return of their cases to OJO their secrecy could be compromised. Their lawyers are asking that OJO adopts guarantees and security protocols similar to those extended under the SPO. It remains to be seen whether some of the protected witnesses will give up on their role in the trials, Infomax reports, citing lawyers for the witnesses.
