Deputy Minister of Justice Oliver Ristovski said Friday that North Macedonia cannot seek revision of the asylum request of former Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski, and the ministry is powerless to do anything more if the Hungarian authorities reject extradition.

He is on trial, he has the right to seek asylum for three years, if I am not wrong, and it is only checked in the country in which he received the asylum. There is no connection with the Republic of North Macedonia. In the Ministry of Justice has still not received any written note from Hungary. The explanation was, if I understood well, they had asylum in Hungary, the asylum was granted because of the conditions in Macedonia. And therefore they cannot extradite him to the country from which he escaped and he is granted asylum, Ristovski said.

Only the Hungarian authorities have the right to revision.
