The USJE cement company, part of the Greek Titan group, invited the press to visit its large plant in Skopje to prove that it is not using unsafe fuel. The plant, located close to the densely populated Aerodrom and Kisela Voda districts, is considered a major contributor to the poor air quality in Skopje and photographs of textile and unsafe fuels allegedly burnt in the production process have recently been shared online.

The issue of using alternative fuels has become prominent lately. Given the understandable great interest of the public for the overall environmental situation, unfortunately some speculations and falsehoods have spread in the public concerning our company. We understand the concerns of the citizens and we invite all those interested to come and visit us tomorrow, so we can present all necessary facts about our work, which meets the highest domestic and EU standards, USJE said in a press release.

The invitation also extends to environmental groups.
