VMRO-DPMNE submitted a proposal to the Parliament demanding that a broad, supra-partisan committee is created to manage the coronavirus crisis. The proposal is supported by the smaller opposition parties – the Alliance of Albanians and Alternative, as well as Levica.

This proposal was rejected days ago by the majority in Parliament but we are not giving up on this demand. It is fundamentally important that the proposal is accepted. We demand the creation of a special committee to fight the epidemic, appointed by the Parliament as we see the crisis deteriorate from day to day, VMRO-DPMNE said.

The committee would replace the currently Committee on infectious diseases, whose work was rife with partisanship and political abuse. The proposed committee would include 11 members – most of them experts in epidemiology and micro-biology as well as the Healthcare Minister and the head of the Crisis management center. Its recommendations to the Government would be mandatory and would also enjoy broad support in the Parliament.
