VMRO-DPMNE holds a party congress on Sunday, where party leader Hristijan Mickoski is seeking a new term, on the wings of his major victory in the local elections.

Party sources say that the congress will also lead to major new personnel announcements that will be made by Mickoski. The party will also announce new positions on its policy doctrine, whose goal will be to “renew hope in our citizens that you can live well, at home, in the Republic of Macedonia”.

VMRO-DPMNE is expected to repeat its demand for urgent early elections, considering the clear outcome of the local elections, where a large majority of citizens opted for change.

Regarding the burning issue of the dispute with Bulgaria, Macedonia’s largest party is expected to restate the position that it will “not sign or support a possible new treaty with Bulgaria that will violate the red lines laid out in the resolution adopted by the Parliament in July. Any attempt to open a discussion in bilateral or multilateral areas about the identity characteristics of the Macedonian people automatically undermines the uniqueness of the Macedonian nation. VMRO-DPMNE will continue to fight for respect toward the Macedonian people and state in international relations”.

The congress will be held on Sunday in the Jane Sandanski sports hall in Skopje, with 500 delegates present. It will be opened by the party Secretary General Gjorgji Sajkoski, and Vice President Aleksandar Nikoloski will conduct the work of the party presidency. The vote for party leader will take place early afternoon. At the moment, only Mickoski announced his nomination.
