With the new statute, VMRO-DPMNE abolishes the postion of honorary president of the party.

In an interview with TV 24, VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski says it is not distancing from Gruevski, but part of the party’s democratization reforms, following the example of sister parties in Europe.

It is a statute made in line with the reforms and dynamics and is the result of a thorough analysis of the statutes of several sister parties. It is currently being debated in the ЕC and will soon be debated in the CC. It is the only one of its kind in Macedonia and should be an example for other parties to consider if they want to be seriously democratized, says Mickoski.

Mickoski’s proposal to reform the party status and abolish the position of honorary president was welcomed by MP Antonio Milososki.
